Recommended treatments in your 40‘s and 50’s

What treatments help to transform your look and give you back the confidence you had ten years ago?

It’s something that plays on many peoples minds as they reach their 40’s and beyond. We are here to tell you all is not lost – it’s never been easier to look your very best!

From the ’40s onwards we lose some of the volume in the middle third of the face. Typically the cheeks, under the eyes, nasolabial folds & corners of the mouth. As a result, the skull reshapes, and the fat pads below our skin are redistributed. Lips can become thinner, and skin thickness and tone can reduce, resulting in drier looking duller skin. However, we can address every one of these symptoms giving you back a fresher and more glowing look.

Before we go into more detail as to how we can correct age-related changes to the face, it’s of paramount importance to stress the need for a robust prevention regime. This will help limit any more negative skin and tissue alterations, and you can find details of our recommended regime on the blog.

In a previous article, recommended treatments in your 20’s to 30’s we go into detail of how to prevent age-related skin changes using anti-wrinkle injectables, microneedling, chemical peels and cosmeceuticals. Using dermal fillers to restore lost volume

Loss of volume in the face manifests as darker shadows that increase how noticeable natural skin folds and wrinkles appear. They are most prominent around the lines that make up the junction between the nose and mouth (nasolabial folds), the lines associated with the corners of the mouth (marionette lines) and in the crevice below the eye (tear troughs).

This is due to the combined action of the sockets of the eye and nose becoming larger as we age, along with a redistribution of the facial fat pads that naturally give fullness to the cheeks. These fat pads begin to descend causing loss of defined cheekbones, and a down turning to the mouth.

At Rejuvenate we can give back that natural fullness by the gentle placement of dermal fillers to restore the lost volume. This will tackle those lines to give you a more refreshed appearance. The dermal fillers we use at Rejuvenate are naturally occurring proteins already found in the skin and lips. They work by creating volume and a gel scaffold in the target area. This absorbs up to 1000 times its weight in water molecules giving a hydrated and smooth lift to the area. Because dermal fillers are naturally occurring proteins, they can be broken down by the body. This process typically takes between 4-12 months after placement.

Consequently, fillers are a great choice as it allows you to try the treatment and assess the initial results. This will enable the procedure to be tweaked to your particular requirements and changing needs as you age.
