From the ’40s onwards we lose some of the volume in the middle third of the face. Typically the cheeks, under the eyes, nasolabial folds & corners of the mouth. As a result, the skull reshapes, and the fat pads below our skin are redistributed. Lips can become thinner, and skin thickness and tone can reduce, resulting in drier looking duller skin. The only noticeable difference is in the number of times you require repeat treatments in a year. In your 20’s-30’s you can get away with anti-wrinkle injectables every 9-12 months. In your 40’s-50’s you will probably need them every 6-9 months.

Using dermal fillers to restore lost volume
Loss of volume in the face manifests as darker shadows that increase how noticeable natural skin folds and wrinkles appear. They are most prominent around the lines that make up the junction between the nose and mouth (nasolabial folds), the lines associated with the corners of the mouth (marionette lines) and in the crevice below the eye (tear troughs).
This is due to the combined action of the sockets of the eye and nose becoming larger as we age, along with a redistribution of the facial fat pads that naturally give fullness to the cheeks. These fat pads begin to descend causing loss of defined cheekbones, and a down turning to the mouth.
