Recommended treatments in your 20‘s and 30’s
A question that comes up regularly is when should I start non-invasive treatments? When is too early and what specific treatments would you recommend in your 20’s and 30’s? Well, this blog post will aim to demystify the topic and give you everything you need to know to keep your skin looking in its 20’s even when you are not.
Prevention and Enhancement
The first thing to note is that treatments for stopping the signs of ageing can be split broadly into prevention and enhancement.
Prevention can tackle loss of skin firmness, increased wrinkles and surface texture, increased skin pigmentation and loss of volume. Whereas enhancement focuses on improving your existing features for a more striking and beautiful appearance. Examples are enhanced lip, cheekbone volume as well as contouring the chin, jawline and nose profile.
I can’t stress enough just how important prevention is in terms of skin ageing and beauty. It is always easier and as such cheaper and quicker to prevent those deep lines appearing in the first place. Problems become harder to tackle after years of being etched into the various levels of the skin and muscle.
“A pinch of prevention is worth a pound of cure”
So just how do we go about prevention together? One of the most underappreciated things you have full control over is how much damage your skin receives due to sun damage by UV-A and UV-B rays.
Sun damage is responsible for a staggering 80% of skin ageing in terms of hyperpigmentation, deterioration in tone, texture and reduced hydration. This can be totally prevented by using an SPF 30+ cream (eg. SkinPep’s Hydra Sun Defence). Considering this takes only 30 seconds to apply its mind boggling how few people use it on a daily basis.
When you combine your SPF 30+ with clinical grade cosmeceuticals such as high concentration vitamin C (SkinPep’s Super C-15), hyaluronic acids ( SkinPep’s Wrinkle Clear or Dark Circle Eraser) and retinol A’s (SkinPep’s Ultra-Retinol A 0.5%) you take your prevention game to the next level. These face creams and serums can boost your natural production of collagen and elastin. At the same time hydrating and protecting to give you over time a flawless even skin tone to be proud of.

Give it time
Results with prevention creams alone take time. I always liken it to gently dropping a little bit of blue dye into a large glass of water each time. At first, there is just the slightest hint of a blue tinge to the water, but slowly with each new drop of dye, the water becomes a deeper and deeper shade of blue. Then, one day you suddenly look down and realise your glass is a deep luxurious shade of deepest blue.
It’s the same with cosmeceuticals for the first 2-6 weeks you will see very little change and think to yourself these don’t work. By weeks 8-14 you are finding it harder and harder to see those fine lines around the eyes. Your break out days are fewer and fewer. The time lapse is because it takes 40 days for new skin cells to migrate to the surface. Any beneficial impact at a deeper skin layer will only be seen once sufficient time has elapsed to allow those new fresher cells to appear.
Fast track your results with anti-wrinkle injectables
Do you want to speed up your prevention game and see results in just 10-14 days that last for up to 9 months after a single application? Then consider our best selling clinical treatment – anti-wrinkle injectables.
These injections work by targeting the muscles that control facial expression in the forehead, in-between the eyebrows (glabellar region), and eyes (crow’s feet region). When the muscle clenches, it pulls the skin together causing a fold and a wrinkle to form. Over repeated clenching, these folds become etched into the surface of the skin, and a wrinkle can become visible even when the face is relaxed. It is these visible wrinkles that we often associate with an ageing face.
Anti-wrinkle injectables work by specifically targeting the areas responsible for the wrinkles. They leave the rest of the face responsible for natural expressions such as smiles and laughter free to work. It should be noted that not everyone is suitable for our treatments. Our consultation allows us to tailor the treatments to your individual needs accurately. It is only on a successful assessment of your medical history and facial anatomy with a face to face consultation that we will know if you are suitable for anti-wrinkle injectables.
Microneedling – a great preventative treatment
Another great preventative treatment is microneedling. This is used to treat a range of skin conditions such as acne, rosacea, scars, hyperpigmentation, overly large pore size and fine lines and wrinkles.
Microneedling works by introducing tiny 0.15mm diameter needles to a depth of 0.25-1.5mm into the skin. This creates a small channel that the cosmeceutical serum can now pass down increasing transdermal absorption of beneficial serums by up to 80%. The tiny channel also creates a micro-wound that the body is forced to heal. This natural healing process causes the area to benefit from an increase in collagen and elastin. This helps to improve the natural firmness and tone of the skin.
With our professional level microneedling device the process can be undertaken comfortably with minimal discomfort. The needles enter and leave the skin so fast that the needle is only present in the skin for about a thousandth of a second per application. A full face can be treated with the device in as little as 5 minutes. With every session, you are treated to a decadent cleanse and post-treatment facial with a collagen mask. The overall session is typically booked for 30 minutes together.
Fewer spots with chemical peels
Want to have glowing, healthy skin and fewer breakouts? Then our last preventative measure is for you: Chemical peels. Chemical peels come in varying degrees of peel depth, from superficial to deep.
Here at Rejuvenate, we specialise in peels that help you look fantastic but have minimal downtime. No embarrassing red burns or flaky skin post-treatment. Just a glowing, fresh and more radiant you. We achieve this by using 40-70% Glycolic acid peel formula with no SLS, parabens, artificial dyes or fragrances. It is suitable for all skin types.
I call it my “Red carpet Treatment All-Star” as it’s gentle enough to be used before an event. It works to safely remove the dead skin cells on the superficial layer without resulting in damage to deeper layers. It’s this damage to the deeper layers that are responsible for increased downtime and inconvenience to your daily life.
Enhance your features with dermal fillers
Now you know how to prevent those dreaded signs of ageing and how to boost your overall skin health subtly. But how do you go about enhancing your favourite feature or improve something you have always been self-conscious about? This is where dermal fillers come in as they allow a skilled facial aesthetician to sculpt your features to their very best.
The most popular areas for enhancement in the ’20s and ’30s are to provide a more full and generous lip profile that begs to be kissed. Higher more contoured cheekbones and jawline to give you that top model look. Corrective procedures to reshape the nose profile and remove a hooked point, or a bump in the bridge of the nose, or soften the area in which the nose joins between the eyes can help restore lost confidence and give immediate results without the downtime associated with traditional surgical rhinoplasty (nose job).
Dermal fillers are made from HA, the same protein that is naturally found in the skin and the lips. The fillers also act to lock in moisture to the area where placed. This results in the area naturally hydrating and plumping even further. They will be broken down and metabolised naturally by the body. Dermal fillers are a safe and reversible procedure. The filler will give cosmetic results for between 4-18 months depending on the location of injection. As a rough guide the more flexible the area, the shorter its longevity. With dermal filler placed in the ever flexing lips lasting between 4-9 months. In the more rigid nose, the dermal filler will last on average 9-18 months.
