Fat-dissolving injections
Fat-dissolving treatment overview
We all have stubborn areas of fat that we can’t seem to shift no matter which diet we try or how hard we exercise down the gym. With fat dissolving injections Rejuvenate at North Street have the perfect solution for your problem areas.
Fat-dissolving injections, also known as lipolytic injections, work by using a naturally occurring agent to disrupt and destroy the body’s fat cells. The non-invasive injections actively break down the fat cell membrane, liquifying the fat in the treatment area. This results in the destroyed fat cells being broken down and removed naturally through the body’s lymphatic system.
Here at North Street, we use DesoFace and DesoBody, the newest fat-dissolving formulas available. They contain the active ingredient sodium deoxycholate (deoxycholic acid), which is a unique medical detergent that breaks down fat cells. It is safer, more effective and more comfortable than other older fat-dissolving treatments available on the market.

At Rejuvenate, your initial consultation is free of charge and is the first essential step in your treatment journey. Dr Joe Dowie BDS, BSc (GDC 26409) undertakes all our aesthetic consultations.
Dr Joe will discuss what you consider your problem areas to be, and how you would like them treated. Dr Joe will then talk you through in detail all the specific options available and the results you can realistically expect to achieve. This consultation helps to make all our treatments safe and reassuringly predictable.
Please note that not everyone is suitable for all of our treatments. The consultation allows us to tailor the treatments to your exact needs precisely. We look forward to meeting you and starting you on your journey to a more confident, rejuvenated you.
Questions and Answers
What parts of the body do you treat with fat-dissolving injections?
DesoBody can be used to target areas of stubborn fat. The most popular treatment areas are in the abdomen (stomach), flanks (love handles), bra-fat, arms (bingo-wings), thighs and knees. We use DesoFace to reduce double-chins, jowls and neck fat.
Does it hurt to have a fat-dissolving injection?
Fat-dissolving injections are safe when administered by a trained practitioner. At Rejuvenate, medically trained staff provide all of our procedures. We use a cannula (non-sharp needle) to aid in the comfort and safety of the procedure. Our DesoFace and DesoBody range contains an anaesthetic to help numb the treatment areas. The majority of patients will experience a mildly warm sensation as the solution works, with a small minority feeling a stronger response similar to mild cramp as the body naturally breaks down the excess fat cells.
Will I be able to go back to work after my treatment?
The downtime with fat-dissolving injections is minimal. Their is an initial swelling of the area as we place the solution, followed by the breakdown and absorption of the fat cells. We recommend the use of compression garments to reduce swelling and speed up recovery. Typically, swelling in the treatment area lasts 1-2 weeks. For your added convenience suitable compression garments can be purchased here at North Street Dental alongside your treatment.
How many sessions do I need before I see a difference?
Optimum results are achieved within 3-6 weeks following treatment. For more extensive reduction in fat deposits, it may take 2-3 sessions to achieve the final desired result. During the consultation we give you a idea of how long it will take to achieve your desired results.
Will I need extra sessions of fat-dissolving injections to maintain my results?
Fat-dissolving injections permanently remove the fat cells stopping fat gain in the injected area. Because of this, maintenance sessions are generally not required. However, if your fat deposit layers are more than 5cm thick, you may need additional sessions to target these layers. The lower fat layers can become larger if you are not on a calorie-controlled diet.
What does it cost for fat-dissolving treatment?
Here at Rejuvenate, we determine the price by the number of vials used, which we price at £200 per 2 vials. We usually recommend 1-3 sessions initially to accomplish the fat reduction you desire, with each session spaced six weeks apart.
Below is the cost of a single session of treatment.
Abdomen: £200-400
Love Handles: £200
Bra Fat: £150-200
Upper arms: £200
Thighs: £200-400
Aftercare instructions for fat-dissolving treatment
Post-treatment, we provide you with an aftercare pack. This information will help you to know what to expect after your treatment.
Immediately after treatment, there may be slight redness, swelling, tenderness and itching/burning sensation in the treated area. This is a typical result of the injection. The inconvenience is temporary and generally disappears in a few days to 2 weeks.
Please take care to follow our directions:
- Apply an ice pack to the treated area; this will reduce any initial swelling. Swelling can last for about 1-2 weeks, and the area may look uneven during this time. Results directly after the treatment should not be seen as the final outcome. The treatment area will initially appear larger due to swelling, and the solution injected into the area.
- Wear compression garment for 24hrs for the first seven days following treatment and 12hrs a day for the second week.
- Do not touch the treated area for 6 hours following treatment.
- Avoid washing the area with soap and water for 6 hours.
- Avoid applying makeup to the area for 12 hours. After this, you can use light makeup and gently wash the area with soap and water.
- Until the initial swelling and redness have resolved, do not expose the treated area to intense heat (e.g. solarium and sunbathing) or extreme cold.
- Avoid laser treatment, chemical peels or similar procedures as they may cause an inflammatory reaction.
- If you have previously suffered from cold sores, there is a risk that the needle punctures could contribute to another eruption of cold sores.
- If you are taking aspirin, anticoagulant therapy, or any similar medication, these may increase the bruising and bleeding at the injection site.
- Any concerns at all, please contact the practice. We are on North Street, Dudley, West Midlands. Full details on the contact page.
