Quality dentures
Quality traditional dentures – our track record
Here at the Denture Clinic at North Street, we believe our traditional quality dentures – hand-crafted in our laboratory on the premises – are some of the best available. We use only the highest quality materials, the best prosthetic teeth and our technicians have been hand-picked because of their exceptional skills.
We’ve had patients travel to our clinic in Dudley, West Midlands from Spain, Portugal, the Highlands of Scotland, North Wales and Dorset to engage in our creative dentistry. Currently, we have more than 3500 denture patients on our books.
Quality natural looking dentures are our hallmark
We take time
Typically, denture patients will be assigned more than three-and-a-half surgery hours for us to achieve the best possible outcome. We’re all about quality and excellent patient experience.
What do dentures do?
Dentures replace lost or missing teeth. They enable a healthy diet and for patients to smile with renewed confidence. Dentures are made of either acrylic (plastic) or sometimes a mixture of metal and acrylic.
A ‘complete’ or ‘full’ denture is one that replaces all the natural teeth in either the upper or lower jaw. Partial dentures fill in the spaces where there are missing teeth.
Partial dentures
Partial dentures replace teeth that are missing and play a vitally important role in preserving existing teeth. Teeth can move if you have gaps between them, so otherwise healthy teeth are compromised and become crooked or unusually spaced. Ultimately, this could affect the way you bite and could damage other teeth.
Will they be comfortable?
Yes. We prescribe our full dentures with the help of the very latest technology. To achieve a snug fit over your gums, the prescriptions are ‘set’ using a Biofunctional Prosthetics System (BPS.) The BPS helps accurately replicate natural teeth anatomy during the production process.
Can traditional dentures be glamorous?
Indeed they can and Practice Principal Steven Burchell CDT RCS(Eng) GDC108353 has a particular interest in this cosmetic field.
Replacing lost or missing teeth can vastly change your appearance. Especially if you have pinched lips and sunken cheeks.
Without this support, sagging facial muscles can make a person look much older. It is our experience that patients have ‘lost years’ after having our denture prescriptions. A smile makeover is wholly achievable with denture prescriptions.
Natural is our hallmark
All our dentures look natural and for the untrained eye, virtually impossible to detect. They can be crafted to closely match your natural teeth. We have been known to work from old photographs to restore a look.
Will I be able to eat normally with dentures?
Of course. Start with softer foods and practise before ‘going public’. It’s advisable to chew slowly, using both sides of your mouth at the same time to stop the denture dislodging.
Will dentures affect my speech?
Pronouncing certain words may take a little practice at first.
How long should I wear my dentures?
During the first few days, we may advise you to wear them most of the time.
Should I use a denture fixative?
Our dentures are made to fit your mouth perfectly, and you shouldn’t need a fixative.
How do I care for my mouth?
Even with full dentures, you still need to take good care of your mouth. Each day you should brush your gums, tongue and the roof of your mouth with a soft brush to remove plaque.
With partial dentures, it is even more critical that you have an excellent oral routine to help stop tooth decay and gum disease.
How do I take care of my dentures?
Dentures may break if you drop them, so we advise you to clean them over a bowl of water or a folded towel. The general rule is: brush, soak and brush again. We also offer a professional deep cleaning service for dentures.
Do I still need a regular check-up?
Regular dental check-ups and having your teeth professionally cleaned are essential for keeping your mouth healthy. For people without natural teeth every 12 months is typical. But for partial denture wearers, six-monthly examinations are recommended.
Are dentures my only option?
No. Bridges and dental implants are other options to consider. Ask us for more information.
